PRINCIPLES

Live, and Learn.

Young people learn when they are empowered to FOLLOW THEIR PASSIONS and choose what they want to learn.

Children have an innate curiosity and love of learning that must be supported and nurtured if they are to fully develop their potentials and also maintain their curiosity.

At Adventure Unschool we trust children to make decisions about what is right for them, by engaging with them in a conversational process of goal setting and curriculum planning, rather than assigning an arbitrary plan.

Re-skill, Re-wild, Re-connect.

Young people learn through GUIDED EXPLORATION OF THE WORLD, FOCUSED WORK AND STUDY, and by SHARING LEARNING WITH OTHERS.

A key element of this process is designing and discovering supportive learning environments and identifying master teachers, within concentric circles of community.

With guidance, students can assess their work, track their progress, and demonstrate mastery by sharing their work with their peers and the community.

Plan your work; work your plan.

Young people can develop the fullness of their human potential through BALANCED, HOLISTIC SELF-CULTIVATION.

Attention must be given to the essential Physical, Mental, Emotional/Social, Creative and Spiritual aspects of life.

By cultivating discipline, intuition, and self-awareness, the young person can grow through practice and exploration.

Cultivate relationships.

Young people need GUIDANCE FOR SOCIAL INTERACTIONS to learn how to effectively work with peers, contribute to their communities, build positive relationships, process internal emotions, and cope with societal norms, all while honoring their truth and connecting with their personal power.

Learning doesn't have to be expensive.

Young people DESERVE OPPORTUNITIES FOR LEARNING, regardless of their financial resources.

Of course, educators have to make money and should be paid well for their work. To keep overhead costs low, we will utilize community commons such as public libraries and parks and use public transportation as much as possible.

Certain learning activities have associated costs and will require fund-raising. Students will learn how to make money by sharing their gifts.

Financial aid may be available, please call to inquire.
